About South West United Women's Hockey Club

South West United Women’s Hockey Club (SWU) is based in the suburb of Graceville, which is where our grass teams train and where all players, both grass and turf, are encouraged to improve their fitness by coming to a terrific weekly workout with our fitness trainer. Our turf teams train at the State Hockey Centre, Colmslie.

The club’s committee is made up of a strong team of volunteers who, using their various talents and experiences, constantly strive to improve all aspects of the club. Skills training for our players and umpiring workshops for existing and new umpires are conducted throughout the season, and social activities are arranged to encourage club spirit and provide an opportunity to make new friends. Of course, as with any healthy sporting organisation, there are many others such as parents of junior players, husbands/partners of players, etc. who do not have “official” positions but who make valuable contributions in areas such as fundraising, coaching, etc.

We acknowledge that the safety and well being of all our members is of paramount importance and we have policies and procedures in place to minimise risk and support our members. All members are required to abide by these policies and procedures which can be found in our club's Codes of Conduct.

Our mission statement reinforces this:
“South West United Women's Hockey Club Inc. promotes the game of hockey and encourages its players, umpires and officials to reach their full potential. We endeavour at all times to provide an environment safe for children and all members that is free from harassment and abuse for everyone, and promotes respectful and positive behaviour."

We’re a club that likes to celebrate its successes, both on and off the field, and we’re working on plans to get bigger and better every year! We look forward to a great future in hockey!
